After two weeks of trying out the English-only Day, the response has been generally positive and most students are able to maintain speaking English for the whole day.
However, I have found a need to make a few amendments, particularly because there seems to be no incentive to be a member of the English Police. So the following are the proposed changes for the English-only Day:
1. English Police who can speak English for the whole day for three times consecutively can earn a basic lifeline - reduce the punishment to only 150 words. This lifeline can be used at any time during the year and is transferable to other members of the English Police.
2. English Police who can speak English for the whole day for five times consecutively can earn a special lifeline - cancel a punishment completely. This lifeline can be used at any time during the year and is transferable to other members of the English Police.
Please note: the punishment for any members of the English Police speaking non-English languages will remain double the normal punishment i.e. 1000 words.
This new policy will be implemented from 8/12/2010. Please give your opinions about the policy and any other suggestions you may have regarding the English-only Day. Your opinions and suggestions are most welcome. (Everyone must comment on this blog to say whether you agree with the proposed changes or not!!!) Also, if you are interested in becoming a member of the English Police, you are most welcome to.
Further, I would like to create an English-only Mascot to promote the English-only Day. The mascot should be cute and have something to do with speaking English. Use your creativity! Please send your entries to my eclass e-mail before Friday 3/12/2010. The winning entry will receive a basic lifeline and an appreciation slip.

Reflection of English only day by Terence Yip 3a 33
Although English was not our first language, our school tried to carry out the 'English only day' as a policy to improve our English.
Before this English only day, i felt a bit out of sorts on it as this was a first time that i had. However, i expected it would be a nice day that we can trained our speaking in English a lot.
Before this English only day, i felt a bit out of sorts on it as this was a first time that i had. However, i expected it would be a nice day that we can trained our speaking in English a lot.
- When the day was came, I chatted with my friends as usual. Although there was big difference in the style of speaking between Chinese and English, their meaings of message are the same. I didn't feel nervous in speaking English. If there were some words I didn't understand, i would ask my classmates for answer it. Studying English was not a easy thing as a piece of cake. We should be hard-working on it everyday. Don't just read English Book before the test or exam as begin to dig a well when feeling thirsty.
- Sometimes, I would speak Chinese as just a few word during that day unwittingly. One of the reason was we don't always speak English so that our English was not good enough.
- I think that if our school can carry on more policies as this, it will be much better in our English results.

Reflection on today lessons by Winson Wong
In the science lesson, Mr. Dik gave out our science uniform test paper. It's good that we have two people got 49 marks for the uniform test. Only 1 mark left to get full marks! Most of us can pass, but we still have some students who just got fail. I hope next time we can all pass the test!
After the lunch time, half of our class need to go down to the senior form hall assembly for performing the Chinese Choral Speaking for practicing the Speech festival in the coming month. We have put a lot of time of practicing it. I think that we have done a good job for today's performance. I hope we can use our heart to do this job and win some prizes back to give a present for our work.
Then we went back to the classroom. Ms Chiu saw us drawing the blackboard crazy and made her feel angry. She told us to think on other's point of view. But the Chinese lesson still be a relax lesson although the unhappy thing happened.
In the LED lesson, Mr. Cheng taught us about appreciate to others. We know that we have to appreciate other sincerely. Appreciating others can let them to have more motivation to do more good work.

The English only day by James Tang
The English only day brought us so much fun rather than using foul language in Chinese because it was a new experience that there is no Chinese in a Chinese society. When we heard about it, we had said impossible but right now we can use our fluent English to talk with others work with others, even we used English to play together. It;s our strength, we need to hold it tght and let it shine.Although in the English day, we wouldn't talk too much but we still talk in English. I don'k know is there any studet that need to write the essay but I trust that the number of people must decrease because everyone started to speak in English and they don't want to do the essay.
And I had one way to deal with English only day that is listening English song at the early morning then you keep sing the song you'll use the English. I don't konw why it works, but it's a really good way.The funniest part is during the lunch, we all want to speak in cantonese but we promised that we won't use Chinese. When the students were playing deal, they also used some weird English to instead of some Chinese special slang. While we were palying basketball, we always use the English too. I just teach them some specific word to use in the game. My teammate said something in Chinese but I still tell him to speak in English. It's a reall great experience.

The class uniform By Henry(27)
There is a good news for us. Today, we can get back our class uniform. I wait for this for a long time. We discuss for it for a long time too. We wanted to wear this in our camp but we are late to order it. I think that we should order it earlier. It is because we pay 90 dollars for it and it is expensive. We should wear it more but we do not have too many chances to wear it. We cannot get the class clothes before the camp. We lose a chance. In the future, I think that we do not have too many chances too. I think that we may just have the Charismas party to wear it only so I think that it is unsuitable. We pay 90 dollars but we just wear it one or two times. I think that 90 dollars are expensive in this case. I think that we should be order a cheaper one. By the way, the class uniform are beautiful especially the logo. I know that someone spend many times for it so thanks for them. I like the class uniform very much and I hope that we can wear it more. Also have some happy moment in 3A.

A troublesome science test by Jack Lam 3A 25
This morning, when I arrived school, I saw a thing that surprised me. The thing was no classmates playing basketball. Every morning, if you look at the basketball court, you will see James, Jason, Matthew, Winson, Christopher and Ernest are playing basketball. However, none of them did this today. Then I went into 3A classroom and saw that everybody was staying at their own seat. What were they doing? They were doing revision. For what? For science. Yes, we had a science test today. Luckily, we had this test after school so we still had much time to prepare. I didn’t know it was a uniform test or not but I knew that the test was quite important. The annoying test made every classmate worried for a whole day including me.
In every lesson, we said the same thing to the teacher. `Do not have lesson today. Let us do the revision, please.’ It was what we said in every lesson. Luckily, Miss Hui and Miss Chiu really gave us about half-hour to do the revision.
I hate test very much. It is not because test is difficult and important. It is because test will make me feel anxious for whole day and anxious is the most troublesome feeling.

Reflection of the Chinese choral speaking practice by Jason 3A28
Every Tuesday and Friday, I need to practice for the Chinese choral speaking with some 3A students and 3B students. The organizers of the Chinese choral speaking practice are Ms. Chu and Mr. Chan. We need to go to practice on time. Otherwise, we will receive a misbehavior record slip. At first we will not receive the misbehavior record slip even if we are late. However, some students were late for the practice for so many times and Ms. Chu was mad about that. So, she said that if anyone were late for the choral speaking practice for 1 second, she will give a misbehavior record slip to him/her. After that, no one were late for the choral speaking practice. I think it is a shame that student will be on time only after they know that there will be a punishment if they are late. It is the duty of student to follow rules which was set by the teachers. I think student should be doing things on time even no one remind you. Being on time is a way to show respect to the thing or to the person. If anyone was late for the Chinese choral speaking practice, they must tell the teacher the reason why he/she was late. If there is no any even ridiculous reason, it means that the student didn’t respect the school and the teachers. I think the punishment should be more serious.
In the other hand, it is a good news that there is less people late for the choral speaking practice. However, I think we are improving our skill of Chinese choral speaking with a slow rate. We could not do very well in every practice time as somebody were chatting all the time and laughing during we were practicing. I think we can be better in future.
Reflection of the experiential learning week by Jason 3A28
Last week is a very special week for every form 3 students in my school. It was a experiential learning week. There were so many activities which were held by the school.
We visited a fire station. A firefighter introduced some of the equipment which was commonly used by the firefighter. I tried to carry the equipment and I think they were quite heavy. The firefighter needed to carry some of the heavy equipment and ran to the place where there was a fire accident to save people in few minutes. I am impressed by the firefighter as they get great responsibility to save people in dangerous in a dangerous place. It is a very hard job and it is not a thing that everyone can do it.
The second day, we went to a camp. We needed to stay in the camp for two days. We had a lot of activities in those days. I was a group member of group A2. I was depressed as my group hadn’t won ay of those activities. Once we could break the highest record of the game-“2 people with 3 foot”. Unfortunately, we didn’t do well at the last time of playing this game. We couldn’t do very well in any competition. However, I learnt a lot of thing from the camping activity. I learnt that team work is very important. People need a lot of team work in our daily life. People have to cooperate well and communicate well to create a well team work. We should always tell others clear instructions to avoid having misunderstanding.
The school prepared a talk for us. The topic is anti-drugs. The talk is presented by drama form. I enjoyed watching the drama as the drama showed the terrible and also the real part of the society. I knew that drugs will lower people’s IQ after I joined the talk.
In conclusion, I enjoyed the learningful experiential learning week.

Feedback from the Performance Slip and Parents' Evening by Mr. Cheng
The parent's evening on Friday was a generally positive one. It was really good chatting to some of your parents and I was so impressed by their English (you guys should really learn from your parents!) However, the main talking point was of course about the performance slips issued by the school on this day.
Most of you should have seen your performance slip by now, and I think you would agree with me that there is certainly plenty of room for improvement. The school wanted to use these performance slips as a "wake-up call" for you all because it is much better to have this "surprise" now, rather than waiting until February when you actually get your interim-report cards. Now is the perfect time to look at yourselves and see where you need to do more work.
I'm sure all of you don't need reminding about the importance of this year's exam scores. I told you in September that you were all here because of your English results only! The problem is that the NSS subject selection is based on the average scores. Yet, you are still in the best position out of all classes to select the subjects you want to do. Your English level is definitely an advantage which you should make better use of.
You need to start to show us you care about your studies. Doing and handing in homework is the most basic responsibility of a student and you have to make sure this is done on-time every time. Like I said before, where possible, try to do homework on the day it's set so that you are not always chasing after deadlines. You control the deadlines, not the other way around!
We need to create a classroom environment where everyone is eager to study and give to the class. We really have no space for those who are going to just sit here, not contribute, or even worse destroy our class atmosphere. I know you all want to do well too. Your NSS subject selection will affect your whole life, and right now your futures are still in your own hands for you to shape. But it takes self-discipline to ensure that it doesn't suddenly slip out of your control. Keep reminding yourself this, find your motivation to learn and let's work hard together!

3A's First English-only Day (17/11/2010) by Mr. Cheng
17/11/2010 was certainly a day to celebrate for 3A! It was our first ever English-only day!!
As the name suggests, we were trying to speak only English for the whole day (including recess, lunch-time and even CCA periods!!) The aims were to:
1. create an English-speaking environment for the students.
2. make students think, speak and dream in English.
3. increase students' self-discipline in taking responsibility for their own studies.
4. unite the class.
Other than dreaming in English, I think all aims were achieved. Of course, I understood that it was a tough day for all the students, and it made it even worse that 10 students had to be punished for speaking Chinese. But I truly believe that this is a necessary step if students in 3A are to become more confident in speaking English.
The reaction from other people was fantastic. Our librarian, Mrs Kate Gale told me how happy she was to hear students speaking English to each other while they were lining up outside the library. She said that our class was a true role-model for all other classes. Other English teachers were also impressed by our English-only day and complemented the English level of our students. Finally, the best thing that I observed was that students from other classes also spoke English to our students (at least when I walked past).
Change is always painful at the start, but if we are strong enough to get through it, I am very sure that we will see some fabulous results. If we can all work towards this common goal, not only will our class be more united, but we will also improve our English together.
Look forward to the next English-only day!

My 3A days
I went to 3a for nearly 3 months but I think the class was quite fun, there are some group of this class, for example, the boys was in one group on have silly games; the girls were always eating lunch in the lunch time period, but it’s a bit weird for me i seems to be not in a single group , I am always the middle man that not with them at all, any way this is even an issue, but the most important thing was how ridiculous that the boy is. The boys is always fighting together and always breaking the board. And even it could be a bit too over, but as days goes by I have already been used to it and its great fun to see them fighting everyday and I don’t hope that they will get hurt in the future.
And the most unforgettable experience in 3A would be, in the experiential learning week, in that week 3A did comes together as once and the only thing that we could improve , was that we should be in the same line and the worse thing was that my group A2, because our group can’t win anything. I will tell you more next time.
Reflection of science lesson by Konnor Kwan(24)
Yesterday we had an interesting and exciting science lesson; it was a little bit different with other science lessons. Normally the teacher would just teach us the things in the book or other information. In yesterday lesson we did an experiment, but we were not just did the experiment in the book, what we did was to anatomy PIG’S HEART!!!!! For learning the information of pig heart, we just could see it in the science book, but yesterday we could see the entity of it!!!!!
At first, I thought that the pig’s heart was having big smell, bloody, etc. And I also thought that the process of dissecting the pig’s heart was very disgusting, so at first I didn’t really want to see it. However, later on, I felt that it was easier and it wasn’t very worse than I imagined (at list I could still have my lunch after that). We felt very exciting for dissecting the heart; we worked very hard for it with the group mates, and could see clearly of the things in the pig’s heart than the science book. We could learn more things in the pig’s heart and we could also experience the process of dissecting something.
Reflection of experiential learning week by Konnor Kwan(24)
Last week was the experiential learning week, we had did a lot if activity in the week and also went to camp for two day.
When we were in the camp every class had separated in to three groups. We did a lot of activities to get more point to win in the competition, so we all tried to work hard to hope to win in the camp.
While we were doing the activities I had knew something. I knew that sometimes we may not want to be one group with someone, we wanted to be a group with other friends. But actually we would lose if we were doing like that then we would not win. So when we were doing the activities we most accept others, to have a good communication with them and to finished the activities together, then we may finished it faster. When there were some time to prepare how we could finished the activities, we couldn’t just discussed by ourselves, sometimes we needed to know who had learnt something before which could use it at that time, so it would be more comfortable and easier to do the activities.
We would win if we had thought these problems before.

The reflection of camp by Matthew
Last week, we went to a camp in Tuesday. All the students were very excited about it. I also learnt a lot from it.
Our class was divided into three group, there were A1,A2 and A3. I was grouped into A3. We played a lot of group games and there was a competition between the groups, even the same class. It was because we want to win very much, so all our groupmates were paying a lot of effort in it. Although we lose at last, we got a lot of great results because we have tried our best. After the camp, I knew the importance of co-operation, we can get many achievements if we being united. Also, we need to hear or knowthe rules or guidelines carefully before we start doing something, we can make less mistakes in progress. Also, I learnt to give some useful strategies to solve some problems or do things, we can train our critical thinking and use the knowledge that learn from the class.
I think the camp is very learningful and meaningful, I hope we can go to camp again next year and the camp can be longer, and go to camp can learn something that we can't learn from the class, such as we can train our leadership, co-operation skills, etc.

The diary of 15th November,2010 by Matthew
Today is the first school day of this week, so I feel unwilling to go to school because I had a leisurable weekend. It was a cold day, so I bring my sweater to go to school.
When I go to school, I ran to the basketball court fastly and played basketball with my friends. This is the thing that I do every day, I want to train myself to be a awesome and powerful basketball player. It was a exciting game, we enjoyed it verymuch. When I went up to the classroom, I memorized that I forgot to do some of the peer interaction parts in the experiential week booklet. So, I finished it with my classmates as fast as I can, but I leave out one peer interaction part question because I didn't have enough time to do. In the Chinese lesson, we had a oral test, some of our classmates did were very funny, interesting and creative, like Terence and Toby. They made our class laughed crazily. After the oral test, we had a dictation, I thought the dictation was too difficult and long, I need to work more harder next time. In the reading perod, Mr.Cheng and Ms. Ho said that some classmates and I didn't finish the booklet, and they told us need to help in the PTA meeting day, I thought it can help me to increase my experience, so I am willing to responsible for it. In the end of the school day, I went to the Maths remedial class, I did the exercise and the student helper and Ms. Yeung helped me when I had some difficulties about the topic.
I think this week will be very busy, so I need to finish the works as fast as I can, so I can have free time to revise the subjects for the uniform test.

The Camp By Christopher Avery Kong
Last week, was our whole school's experiential learning week. We all get very exhausted and we just want to go back home instead of staying at the camp site. Although we want to go back home, we were participated in every activities.
In my group (A1), my peers always give out some useful ideas and these suggestions could help us to finished the target. I think we get a few things from this camp, but a few is better than less. We learnt how to cooperate via the camp physical activities like: high wall, push one person from the ground to the top of the wall, it is very difficult. But we all did it. It prove the team spirit could let some thing that seems impossible , to turn it to possible and make it come true.
This is what the spirit that 3A needs.

Experiential Learning Week By Elizabeth Chan
This week we don’t need to have any lesson because our school had created an interactive and meaningful learning experience for us. We had pass through many activities which our school wants us to learning-by-doing and learning-through-reflection process. It also wants us to learn more about the development of real life skills.
Anti-Gambling Talk
Briefing on Camping
In this week, we have enjoy many king of meaningful activities such as visit the fire station, a talk about gambling, a camp and a drama about drugs. I think the most unforgettable activities in the camp are climbing the high wall. We all helping and pushing the people to climb on the top of the small building. It was a hard work but the people are willing to try their best to help them to climb up to the top. When it is my turn to climb to the top, the people are pushing me up and I can climb to the top successfully. I never realize that I can climb to the top, until I really done it. Before I climb to the top, I was afraid that I will fall off and drop down but after I finish it, I think I was a bit silly. That is because people are around me and they are putting up their hands to avoid people fall off. After this activity, I have learned that to try to trust the people around you especially your teachers and classmates. And also I have learned that we should have a communication with our team member before we do things. That is a very important skill for us. It is because our team A1 uses this skill, so that we finally have won a second price!
Every time we finish a game in the camp, we talk about what we can improve and we put our hands together and said “SOOM” to cheer everyone up. I remembered that the people who train us said to us it is good to have our own language such as “SOOM”!
Finally, I think this week is very meaningful and make me learn more knowledge.

Information day by Kung Man Chun
This Saturday is the Information day of school. I am the story ambassador. Therefore I came back to school to tell the story in the library.
After I ate lunch, I back to school. But after fifteen minutes, the story telling start! I was very nervous. However, I still can read the story with a lot of wrong words (I am delight about no one know it!). Miss Mann said that I did a great job. I was very happy about it.
After that, there was a break. I was very bored. I knew that some of my friends were in school. Therefore I was running around the school to found was there any friend. When I was on the 5th floor (old wing),I was too tired and went back to library and had a nap.
After an hour, Winson and Winnie came and woke me up. They said that they met Sharon on the 5th floor (new wing). I was very happy and wanted to find her. However, the time of second time story telling began. I could not go to find her and I felt upset.
The second story telling started. However, the guests were all gone. The second story telling was canceled.

Busy busy and busy by Kung Man Chun
In this week, 3A students have a lot of work to do.
On Monday, there was a Chinese dictation. We need to remember the content of the dictation. It is hard to remember. When I back to school, all of our classmates are murmuring. They were murmuring the content of Chinese dictation. Oh I see! They did not remember it in the weekend!
On Tuesday, there was a China Studies test. We are very nervous about it. It is the first test of us. It also have a lot of content. It is from the start of Ching dynasty to the Second of Opium War. At any moment, in any places, in any situation, we also take the China Studies book along with us.
On Friday, there was Chinese dictation again! We also had to remember the content! Oh my god! How come there were two Chinese diction in a week! There was a Maths quiz also. There was a English quiz too. We also need to hand in the Liberal Studies report at the same day. I think that all of us sighed at that day.
However, I think that the terrible things will come incessantly. Therefore 3A students add oil!

The drama show in 4/11 By AndyKam
Today, we saw a drama in hall when during the P.E. lesson, and English lesson. This group of people called the ‘live’. Because they perform in live? It is a name with less meaning.
This drama is about a man just 18, he was encouraging by other man to gamble and lose money. He wants to go to Japan for finding people but he has no money for buying the plane ticket. Then, he tries to find a job. He meets a man and encouraged by this man to gamble. He can win lots of money. However, after that, he starts to lose money and even ten dollars. His friends start to know he is going to gamble and borrow money from friends. Last, just find some students to tell him not to do so. It is an easy and short ending.
I don’t like this kind of ending. It seems to have a long time for the drama, but it is not. They find some students to go up there to tell him not to do this, but the normal people won’t hear to you. Therefore, we can’t learn thing in this drama! It makes people think they have many to tell. However, the things that they really said, is only the start to gamble. They have not say how to solve problem.
Although I think it is bad with the ending, but they still act very well. In the drama they act very well, they can act the person behaviors like the real people. They just can act but not can think well of the story happen. Every people have difference abilities. The actor can act well, it is very good already.
Last thing I can’t know, why the drama begun in the 3rd lesson, and stop with the 4th lesson but stop at the half of it. Why don’t start at the start of the lesson and stop at the last minute of lesson? The arrangement must be that silly? I can’t get this.
(sorry, I forgot to take photos in class. I will have it next time~ must have it!)
English Presentation of Dirary of __kid
Nora Tsoi
Our group(India) was prepairing all the thing of the presentation at the night before presention.Five of us talked on the phone and to discuss some details of the presentation. And we want to keep it secret so we didn’t tell ant one about it. And I expect them to laugh while they watch our trailer.

The next day, it is the day that we have to present. Tiffany is my mother in the story so she need to bring a dress and an apron. And I am a boy in the story, so I need to bring a shirt, but I don’t know where to find a shirt, and they said that, I can use the shirt from the winter uniform. When Tiffany were her apron she have found that, there is a big name has written on it, that is her sister’s name, and the words wrote on the apron is green in colour, so she turned over the apron to were, luckly, no one saw it.
We were hiding out side of the classroom behind the door, when Dawn play the trailer, I relized our process of making the trailer.
When the trailer ended, we get inside and I have to flick the blu-tack that’s green in colour to other. But I can’t flick the blu-tack so I just run around and put them on their desk, but as the blu-tack stick in the box and I just pull it out, and the size of the bllu-tack gave to each group was very random. But I still think that our group’s precent is quite success.
See what's this group doing!

Special Tuesday by NGPUITING :D
Today was Tuesday, everything seems to same as last Tuesday. However, it isn't. We had our special lesson- having an writing lesson by an writer (I forgot his name ><"), doing the broad decoration and HAVING THE CHINA STUDIES UT!!
In the morning, everyone was doing the revision of China Studies' UT because some of the classmate said that we would have the UT at , but some of them just said we would have the UT at There was a very serious atmosphere around the classroom, everyone was remembering the history. Fortunately, we will have the UT at 3:30p.m :D
In the English lesson, we were doing the last preparation for tomorrow’s presentation.

Everyone was discussing about the project
Oh! Kenneth was so tired XD
During the Chinese lesson and Maths lesson, odd numbers needed to go to the library to have a writing lesson with an writer (his name is Adrian, isn't it?). At first, I thought that he is a crazy writer as he needed us to keep on writing what we are thinking at that moment (cannot stop for a second!!! but all of us can do that :D). Actually, I think that every writer must be imaginative because they need to write MANY MANY stories. He introduced the character type.(What do you think about a name- Emptor Shears? What is his/ her personality?). Near the end of the lesson, he needed us to continuous writing those three topic (choose anyone of those topic.).
During the Music lesson, because the even numbers went to have an writing lesson with the writer, so we did the broad decoration. First of all, we removed all the things that was on the broad and changed its position. For the middle board, we used it for the subject which include: Music, LED, English, Science and Chinese(we decided to use the smallest place for Chinese XD). Hope that we can finish the board as soon as possible :D
